The Rosinka International Group: Halloween is celebrated in traditional style in a Russian neighbourhood
Rosinka International Group organised a Halloween celebration for the residents of IRC Rosinka.
Since its foundation in 1990, Rosinka has been the centre of an active and cultural life. Various business events are frequently held in the complex, and traditional Western holidays are celebrated: The Thanksgiving Day, Halloween, Christmas, St. Valentine’s Day, American Independence Day and many more. On November 7, 2008 the residents of IRC Rosinka celebrated Halloween. The celebration was taking place in the main square and in the community and sports centre. It was based on the traditions of a genuine American Halloween to which the residents of the complex are accustomed from the time when they were in their home countries in America and Europe. The decorations in the streets, in the community and sports centre and in the restaurants, the wide range of entertainment activities and the children’s fancy dress costumes — all helped to create a mystical atmosphere for All Saints’ Day. The event programme contained a large number of competitions for children, an Angels vs. Dark Forces battle and children’s face painting. The event was brought to a close with a firework display, which has become a tradition of celebrating Halloween in Rosinka.
«90% of the residents of the Rosinka international housing complex are from abroad, of which more than four hundred are children. Celebrating holidays helps them feel at home, experience a sense of community, which we try and foster here in Russia» says Anatoly Valetov, Deputy General Director of Marketing and Sales at Rosinka International Group. «Both children and adults attend our celebrations. For the former, it’s a chance to have fun with kids of the same age. For the latter, it’s a chance to recall their childhood, which was spent outside of Russia.»
